I don't often shop at A&P because there isn't one in my town. There is one not too far away but further than where I usually grocery shop. However, since they had 4 Dollar Doublers and they now accept internet coupons AND they triple up to 3 coupons(whose face value is under $1) AND they had a "free turkey deal", I decided to shop there this week. Well, I am glad that I did. They had quite a few frozen food items that were reduced for quick sale, which means they were selling them for 50% off. Since A&P is a smaller store, they have limited freezer space so if they are not going to carry an item any more or the packaging changes, etc., they reduce the item for quick sale. They will also do this on their dairy items that are approaching their expiration dates, but that was not the case with these items.
I was able to get:
California Pizza Kitchen White Pizza
normally $7.49 reduced to $3.74
I had $1 coupon & used dollar doubler = $1.74
We really like this pizza so I bought 3 (which is all they had left).
I bought 2 Red Baron Deep Dish Pizza Singles
normally $4.29 each
they must have been on sale as $1.72 was deducted for sale
then they took 50% off (took off $1.29)
then I had $1 coupon and a 75¢ coupon
they doubled the dollar(dollar doubler) & tripled the 75¢
so I had a 72¢ overage and a 97¢ overage on the other
So, I got a REALLY good deal on these pizzas. Now, there may be some who are thinking that by getting an overage I was cheating the system by using the double and triple coupon. Their registers are automatically programmed to triple the 75¢ coupon and I used the dollar doubler on the other because I did not realize that I was getting the $1.72 off the top and then 50% off of that price. I thought I was getting 50% off the $4.29.
My point? You really should check out the "reduced for quick sale" items at the grocery store or really any small store as they often mark things down due to their limited shelf space.
